A work of cultural art. The time that it takes to make this modern piece of art is hours long. Made in the traditional methods and tools of tapa (masi) making, and hand printed with motif stencil designs handed down from generation to generation.
Original methods of stenciling the masi included the use of leaf stencils. Fresh templates would have to be made daily. The contemporary methods uses modern tools but applying and dying remain basically unchanged. Dyes are made from local plant materials and soot.
Each piece is unique and handmade. Imported from Fiji. Suitable for framing.
